The Bomet County Assembly’s Public Accounts and Investment Committee (PAC/PIC) embarked on an oversight tour of projects funded by the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program in the county.
The projects, located across all 25 wards, are in various stages of implementation and cover several key sectors, including water supply, environmental conservation, and agriculture.
The committee, chaired by Boito Ward member of County Assembly Charles Lang’at, visit aimed to assess the effective and prudent use of public funds and the sustainability of the investments, implemented through the Department of Water, Sanitation, Environment, and Climate Change.
During the inspection, the PAC/PIC team interacted with community beneficiaries who expressed satisfaction with how the projects were identified, implemented, and utilized. The PAC/PIC, in turn, expressed its own satisfaction with the progress and the positive impact on local livelihoods and climate resilience.
This oversight role is crucial for ensuring accountability and value for money, thereby empowering local communities to effectively combat climate change.
In line with its mandate, the committee will now compile a report on the implementation status of the projects, including recommendations. This report will then be tabled and debated before the Assembly for further action.
