Oinap Werik Spring protection project in Singorwet Ward, in Bomet Central Subcounty, Funded through the FLLoCA (Cycle 1) program and implemented by the Climate Change Unit, the initiative represents a significant stride toward environmental resilience and water security.
The project currently serves 400 households, with plans to reach 1,500 upon completion of the second phase.
Beyond providing clean water, the spring significantly reduces the grueling time and distance residents previously traveled. Crucially, shorter distances are expected to lower Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases often linked to long treks for water.
Furthermore, the reliable supply has sparked the establishment of kitchen gardens, boosting local food security. This project is a testament to sustainable, community-led climate action
